Are eye massagers effective?
I have never heard of a "eye massager" in 15 years of practice as an Optician. I have seen strange devices though that you might be describing:
- A "frame" that shows you lights and colors to "soothe" your vision. This is not a medical device and is about as effective as those Extenz pills on television that say they will make you "larger down there".
- A hot-cold mask that you can put on your eyes to relieve irritation or burning. This is not likely to cause any damage, but the relief is only temporary.
Anything else would be suspect. If the device is placing ANY kind of pressure on your eyes, that is, literally massaging them, then run run run FAR away from it. Pressure on your eyes is dangerous and can long-term or permanent vision damage.
