Hotel rooms are all very well, but are they fun? Not really. How about vacationing in a tree house, underwater or perhaps in a giant shoe? Here are some unusual accommodation choices:

High Above
Who says tree houses are only for kids? Adults can get their dose tree house in resorts such as the secrets of the lake in Queensland, Australia, where houses are built fairly distant tree you have total privacy, and come with amenities such as private balconies, huge showers, fireplaces and whirlpools built overlooking Lake. Closer to home (if you're in the U.S.), the station Winivian Connecticut offers a fantastic setting (but comfortable) tree house with a full bar.

For something a little more sparse, head to Vasteras, Sweden, where local artist Mikael Genberg has created "The Peak", a traditional Swedish red cottage 42 feet above the ground, right smack in the city center. It climbs a rope ladder to the tiny, IKEA furnished cabin, which, despite its small size, has a bed, table and chairs, a balcony, and thank you God, a toilet. And if you book luxury packaging, you'll have breakfast and dinner delivered.

How about letting the fish you are looking to change? A Jules Undersea Lodge in Key Largo, FL, you can spend the night in their room with 2 beds, an underwater research laboratory located in a mangrove lagoon. And this is Not all counters and stainless steel test tubes – it has air conditioning, hot showers, a kitchen fully stocked. The only drawback (For some of us anyway) is that you have your way of diving there, so if it's something you can not imagine how it is not for you. If you want to visit but are not a certified diver, you can take Jules 3-hour non-certification courses for those who simply want to spend the night.

If diving in your bedroom is the last thing you want to do, but still want to sleep try a submarine, book a ticket in Västerås, Sweden, where Mikael Genberg has once again created an unusual stay (his latest project is construction of a little red cottage on the moon). The Utter Inn, an on / underwater two-storey house in Lake Malaren resembles a traditional Swedish cottage red apron surrounding floating on the lake, but inside, the room is one flight down 9.8 feet below the surface. The first floor has a room bathroom and a small kitchen, but if you prefer to take in the scenery from the kitchen, no worries. Once again, the Premium Package will provide you with breakfast and dinner (delivered by ship).

What is Boot?
When Judy and Steve Richards built their two-storey cottage in the shape of a shoe giant, there was a pair of eyebrows raised in Tasman, New Zealand. But the boot, situated between the Tasman and Kahurangi National Able Parks proved very popular. And no wonder: for the couple, he is adorable, romantic, warm and comfortable (there are dormitories inside and outside as well as under-floor heating) and fully equipped (except for a kitchen – building codes prohibit that – but an organic breakfast is delivered to your door every day, as is dinner on request).
